Position Purpose

Provide leadership in the development of the product, process, and people associated with CPPM

Customer Expectations

Customers: Manufacturing, Converting, Leadership, and Staff teams.

Expectations: 1) Provide process engineering leadership towards the resolution of escalated issues related to existing processes and equipment
2) Lead improvement initiatives for existing equipment related to speed, waste and delay optimization
3) Provide leadership for process and qualification trials related to new product innovations and/or process improvements
4) Provide process leadership towards process check out (PCO) documents, design safety reviews (DSR), risk assessments, and capability building related to new capital or expense equipment installations/upgrades
5) Manage and ensure conformance to the quality process including providing leadership to the team in the development of centerlines and process control and leading investigations and action plans related to customer feedback, including the development of action plans that meet the Code of Federal Regulations 21 CFR part 820
6) Drive internal and external supplier partnerships to ensure consistent supply of materials to the mill
7) Lead cost improvement initiatives to reduce CPPM cost of manufacturing
8) Lead structured coaching and development of process and reliability specialists and technicians.
9) Provide technical support and lead (as necessary) safety issue improvements and investigations

Scope

The incumbent reports to the Engineering Technical Leader. The incumbent receives direction in the form of broadly defined objectives. Responsibilities include leading/driving initiatives related to improving existing processes, products, and people capability, leading the process development for new products at CPPM, and taking process leadership for capital projects. Assignments will vary from individual contributor to team leadership. The incumbent is recognized for technical knowledge in process engineering and has the people skills to provide formalized training to team members in order to develop their process knowledge and capability. The incumbent will work closely with KC staff resources to innovate and develop new products/processes

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required

Minimum of 5 years experience. Position requires a bachelors or advanced engineering or relevant scientific discipline degree, continuing self-development and/or progress toward advanced degree in related field and experience in a variety of assignments. Demonstrated personal sensitivity and competency in design and/or use of engineering/scientific analysis systems/tools.

• Lives the 3-Obligations. Believes in a zero-injury workplace.
• Has technical skills associated with Tech School or equivalent, or is trained in industrial manufacturing with levels of knowledge that requires a developmental path of months to years.
• Is capable of providing work direction, decision making and team leadership elements such as goal setting, or returning to “standard”.
• Is trained and experienced in LEAN manufacturing methods. Contributes to problem-solving, can establish standards, committed to improvement.
• Has the process knowledge and the desire for improvement to create a more competitive future by identifying opportunities and relentlessly pursuing.
• Able to demonstrate “World Class Leadership Practices” as well as One K-C Behaviors.
• 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Dimensions vary widely depending on project scope and operating area.
• Project responsibility of $.2 MM to $1 MM
• Project team of 2 to 5 people
• Single or Multiple projects

Principal Accountabilities:

Safety: Promotes and participates in mill loss control management by utilizing Modern Safety Management Principles, World Class Manufacturing Principles, and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Environmental: Comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations as defined by mill policies, procedures, employee training, and site subject matter experts.

Quality: Improve process capability to deliver a reduction in defects and variability. Identify, develop, and implement products, processes, materials, systems, and procedures to achieve business objectives and adhere to federal regulations.

Diversity: Provide leadership in a way that helps the organization attract, develop, and retain the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.

Design and Development: Lead the initiation, design and development of converting and supporting processes to achieve unit objectives.

Technical Knowledge: Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and guidance in application of engineering and maintenance principles.

Security and Documentation: Provide guidance in security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information.

Problem Solving: Seek, recognize, define and solve problems/opportunities to achieve unit objectives.

Internal Control: Lead assigned projects/tasks to meet unit objectives within applicable Corporate policies. Place emphasis on CFI and Internal Control.

Communications: Communicate fully with supervisors, subordinates and others. Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious. Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; candid, yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive.

Human Resource Development: Assist in the development of others in the area of incumbent’s expertise.

Customer Partnerships: Lead specific mill customer partnerships, responsible for being the mill contact.

Controlling: Develops specific action plans for critical work, adheres to the plan, anticipates problems and makes appropriate modifications to the plan as necessary. Holds others accountable for their specific deliverables within the plan.
